Proposed
cuts to Alexandra Hospital
I have been asked by
the Parish Council to write to you voicing our opposition to
the proposed axing of the A & E Department, Maternity and
Children's Units at the Alexandra Hospital.
We feel
that the vacuum left by such moves would greatly affect the
well-being of the Community. Many of the residents in Mappleborough
Green are elderly but there is also a large proportion of
families with young children who attend the local school.
The pure logistics of
traveling to Worcester , Warwick or Birmingham would prove
very difficult for most people. We do not have a bus route
stopping in the Village so residents without vehicles have
to rely on lifts or use taxis. If the facilities at the Alexandra
were moved further a field this would cause great problems
of which the financial burden would be high on the list.
Your hospital has been offering an excellent
service to many people and is an integral part of everyday
life locally. To close the departments concerned would create
a lot of stress and worry to many sick people in the vicinity.
If these departments go - what next? Would it be the start
of a full closure?
Please pass on our deep
concerns and our request to re-think any moves to axe these
units.
We look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely
Mrs.
Carole Green
