Trust spent £1m treating NHS patients at private clinic run by its own consultants

“Neal Stote, chairman of Save The Alex campaign group, said: “We’ve always questioned the process behind the centralisation of key services and this seems to suggest we were right to do so.
“If those arguing for centralisation then profit from it, as appears to be happening here, then that looks wrong and risks destroying what little faith the public have left in this four-year long review process to reorganise health care services in Worcestershire.”
Neal added: “If commissioners and trust bosses really want us to believe that ripping services out of our hospital is being made in the interests of patient safety then they need to investigate this situation now.
“Not to do so, will only confirm our suspicion that this downgrade of the Alex is driven by money and not doing the right thing for patients.”
