What is the current financial position?

It is clear that the majority of the trusts financial losses occur at the Worcester site.

Published figures within the Clinical Service and Finance Review (CSFR) report to the Trust Board on the 6th October 2005 indicate that

The Alex is in the red to the tune of 1 million pounds,

Kidderminster is in the red to the tune of 0.5 million pounds

Worcester is in the red to the tune of 13 million pounds.

Given the fact that the CSFR report indicates that the specialities under review are more "financial viable" at the Alex, and less "financially viable" at the WRH then it does not seem to make sense that moving services from a hospital with a low cost base to one with a high cost base can save the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust money in the long term.
